Lower Transverse Link: Installing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Install In Reverse Order Of Removal. Note The Following: 

Tightening Specifications, Refer To UPPER TRANSVERSE LINK, TIE ROD, COIL SPRING, LOWER CONTROL ARM AND LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM SENSOR OVERVIEW .

NOTE:

Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. Only tighten suspension screws when vehicle is in curb weight or control position.

Wheel bearing, lifting to curb weight position on vehicles with coil springs, Refer To WHEEL BEARING WITH COIL SPRING, LIFTING TO CURB WEIGHT POSITION .

-- Insert the lower control arm and install the bolt -1- loosely.

NOTE:

To make sure there is enough clearance to tighten the bolt -2-, the trim and the wheel spoiler must be removed. Refer To the appropriate Service Information .

-- Install the bolt -2- and install the nut -3- loosely.

-- Insert the bolt -1- with the spacer tube -2- and install the nut -3- loosely.

CAUTION:
  • Do not tighten the threaded connection using the nut -3-.

-- Tighten the bolt -1-.

-- Tighten the rest of the threaded connections.

-- Install coil spring. Refer To COIL SPRING .

-- Tighten wheel. Refer To WHEEL BOLT TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- An axle alignment may be required. Refer To WHEEL ALIGNMENT .

NOTE:

The wheel alignment on the front and rear suspensions must be performed on a VW/Audi approved alignment rack.

-- On Vehicles With Automatic Headlamp Range Control System, Perform A Basic Setting On The Headlamps. Refer To HEADLAMP, ADJUSTING .

-- If the sensor was removed and installed on a vehicle with electronically controlled damping or if the linkage was loosened, the control position must be reprogrammed. Refer To CONTROL POSITION, PROGRAMMING USING VEHICLE DIAGNOSTIC TESTER .

-- If the control position was reprogrammed on vehicles with lane assist, the directional stabilization assistance control module -J759- must be recalibrated. Refer To LANE ASSIST CALIBRATION PROCEDURE .
