Coolant Level, Checking And Filling
Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Refractometer:T10007 A
The refractometer scale -1- is designed for coolant additives G11, G12, G12 Plus and G12 Plus Plus.
The scale -2- is designed only for coolant additive -G 13-.
The Coolant Reservoir Is Under Pressure. Open It Only When The Engine Is Cold.
Use Only Distilled Water For Mixing Coolant Additives. Optimum Corrosion Protection Can Be Reached Only By Using Distilled Water.
The Vehicle Must Level.
Approved frost protection additives: refer to the appropriate service information.
The water used for mixing greatly influences the effectiveness of the coolant. In order to have a coolant mixture for all countries, always use distilled water to mix the coolant in older models.
G12 ++ and G13 can also be mixed with coolant additives G11, G12 and G12+.
-- Check the coolant level in the reservoir when the engine is cold.
-- If coolant level is too low: fill with coolant mixture.
- Delivery inspection: coolant level is above the MIN mark.
- Or
- Inspection service: coolant level is above the MIN mark
Small Quantities Of Coolant Can Be Refilled When Larger Quantities Of Coolant Are Needed When Filling, Cooling System Filling Equipment :VAS 6096 should be used.
Consult the Operating Instructions that come with the coolant system filler unit:VAS 6096 .
Determine cause of fluid loss which cannot be attributed to normal use and rectify (repair measure).
