Tie Rod End, Removing And Installing, Electro-Mechanical Steering Gear: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note The Following  :

Tightening specifications. Refer to STEERING GEAR, SERVICING, ELECTRO-MECHANICAL STEERING GEAR .

Tightening specifications. Refer to OVERVIEW - STEERING GEAR, ELECTRO-MECHANICAL STEERING GEAR .

-- Mount the tie rod end -1- on the tie rod -2- until dimension -a-, which was measured during removal, is reached.

-- Align the tie rod end -1- so that the pin is in the installation position.

-- Insert the tie rod end all the way into the wheel bearing housing.

-- Tighten the nut -1-. Counterhold at the inner hex socket of the joint pin when tightening

-- Tighten the nut -2- Counterhold when tightening on the tie rod end -3-.

-- Mount the front wheel. Refer to WHEEL BOLT TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Axle alignment is required. Refer to EVALUATING NEED FOR AXLE ALIGNMENT .

The axle alignment must be performed on a VW/Audi approved alignment rack.
