Power Steering Pump, Removing And Installing, 4-Cylinder TFSI, With Dynamic Steering: Removing
-- Place the vehicle on a hoist.
-- Remove the engine cover upward.
Mark the direction of travel before removing ribbed belt. Reversed direction of travel with a used belt can lead to malfunctions. When installing the ribbed belt, make sure it is seated correctly on pulleys.
-- Remove The Ribbed Belt From The Power Steering Pump Belt Pulley. Refer to appropriate service information, see RIBBED BELT [FOR 3.2L ENGINES CALA], REMOVING AND INSTALLING, RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING AND / OR RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING , RIBBED BELT TENSIONER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [FOR TRANSMISSION(S) 0B6] [FOR ENGINE(S) CAUA (4.2L)] .
-- Extract the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir using :SMN372500 .
-- Clamp off the evacuation hose -1- and return hose -2- using the :3094 .
- The :3094 must not be secured on the return hose -2- near the check valve area. Otherwise the check valve will be damaged.
- The check valve is located in the return hose -2- between the hose clamps -arrows-.
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Place the :VAS6208 under the power steering pump.
-- Mark the position of the belt pulley to the hub by making a mark -arrow-.
If the power steering pump will be replaced, transfer the marking from the hub on the old pump to the new one.
Because of space restrictions, it is not possible to see the position of the belt pulley holes to the holes in the hub when installing.
-- First loosen the belt pulley bolts (only possible on 2 of the 3 bolts because of restricted space). Use the :3212 as a counter hold tool if necessary.
-- Turn the power steering pump belt pulley so that the third bolt can be loosened.
-- Remove the bolt and remove the belt pulley.
-- Open the hose clamps -arrows- and remove the air guide hose.
Applies To Hot Climate Vehicles
-- Disconnect the connector -2-.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and move the After-Run Coolant Pump -V51- to the side.
Applies To All
-- Carefully cut through the cable ties -1- for the wiring harness -2- if applicable.
-- Remove the clamp -4- from the evacuation hose -3- and then remove the evacuation hose -3-.
-- Lay several cloths under the power steering pump and pressure line.
-- Remove the union nut -1- and pull the pressure line out of the power steering pump.
-- Seal the power steering pump and line connections using clean sealing plugs.
-- Remove the two bolts -1- for mounting the power steering pump from the front.
The illustration shows the power steering pump without belt pulley.
-- Drive the sleeve -2- for the bolt -3- in the bracket back slightly to install the power steering pump.
-- Remove the power steering pump.
