Front Passenger Occupant Detection Sensor -G128-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing

WARNING:
  • Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
  • Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

-- Turn on the ignition.

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY .

-- Remove the front seat on the passenger side:

-- Attach the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture:VAS6136  . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .

-- Separate the cover from the padding (seat pan). Refer to SEAT PAN COVER AND CUSHION, SEPARATING, SEAT PAN WITHOUT SEAT DEPTH ADJUSTER .

NOTE:

Remove the upholstery from the rear part of the cover until the seat occupied sensor is freed up.

Standard Seat and Sport Seat (Manual or Power):

-- Remove the passenger occupant detection system connector -2-.

-- Carefully remove passenger occupant detection system sensor -2- including circuit board -4- from seat cushion -1-.

Comfort Seat:

-- Carefully warm up the seat heating element -1- on the left side using the Wiring Harness Repair Set - Hot Air Blower:VAS1978/14A  .

-- Remove the seat heating element -2- in direction of -arrow- until the seat occupied sensor -1- is freed up.

-- Remove the passenger occupant detection system connector.

-- Carefully remove seat occupant sensor -4- including circuit board -3- from seat cushion -1-.

Super Sport Seat:

-- Remove the passenger occupant detection system connector -2-.

-- Carefully remove passenger occupant detection system sensor -2- including circuit board -4- from seat cushion -1-.
