Front Brake Caliper Piston, 1LW: Installing

WARNING:

The brake pistons have different diameters. When re-installing, ensure the respective brake piston is inserted in the correct bore in the brake caliper. The ceramic inserts on the brake pistons serve as heat insulators and must not be removed from the pistons. If the ceramic inserts are damaged, the brake pistons must be replaced for safety reasons.

-- The surface of the piston and seal must only be cleaned with mineral spirits and then dried.

-- Thinly coat piston and seal with lithium grease G 052 150 A2 before inserting.

-- Insert oil seal in brake caliper housing.

-- Install protective cap on piston.

-- Push piston into brake caliper housing using constant pressure.

The protective cap must be seated properly in the groove, push slightly farther if necessary.

-- Brake Caliper, Installing, Ceramic Brakes, refer to BRAKE CALIPER .

NOTE:

Brake line in brake caliper 19 Nm.

Brake line connection to brake line 14 Nm

-- Bleed brake system, refer to BRAKE SYSTEM, BLEEDING .

CAUTION:

Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
