Front Brake Caliper: Removing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Remove the wheels.

-- Remove the brake hose from the bracket.

-- Insert brake pads slightly into the brake caliper.

NOTE:

The brake pistons with the old pads still installed can pressed back to allow all brake pistons in the brake caliper to be pressed back evenly using pliers.

Be careful not to damage the coating on the brake caliper and on the brake pads.

Before pushing back the piston, siphon some of the brake fluid out of the brake fluid reservoir. Otherwise fluid will overflow and cause damage if the reservoir was topped off during repair work.

-- Hold the brake caliper steady and remove the bolts -13-.

-- Carefully remove the brake caliper from the brake rotor.

NOTE:

Do not let the brake caliper hang from the brake hose. Secure it to the body with suitable cable ties or wire.

WARNING:

Do not press the brake pedal when the caliper is removed.
