Vehicles with an Automatic Transmission 0BK
-- Place the :VAS6208 underneath.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -3-, and remove the coolant hose from the ATF cooler and let the coolant drain out.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and then tie up the ATF cooler -1- to the side with the coolant hose -2- still connected.
-- Always seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the :VAS6122 .
There is a risk of destroying the transmission control module (Mechatronic) with electrostatic discharge.
- Always "discharge" the static electricity. Do this by touching a grounded object, for example vehicle ground, the vehicle or the hoist.
- Do not touch contacts in transmission connector with hands.
-- Turn the twist lock counter-clockwise -arrow- and disconnect the connector from the transmission.
-- Free up the wiring harness on the transmission.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Loosen the hose clamp -arrow-, remove the air duct hose and move it to the side.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- on the bracket for the B+ and Ground (GND) cable on the right longitudinal member.
-- Remove the nut -2- and bolt -3- for the front muffler.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the front exhaust pipe.
The decoupling elements in the front muffler could be damaged.
- Do not bend decoupling elements in front muffler more than 10°.
-- Loosen the threaded connections -arrows-, slide the clamping sleeve to the rear and remove the front muffler.
-- Remove the lower cover -1- from the transmission in the direction of -arrow-.
Turn the crankshaft only in the direction of engine rotation.
-- Remove the 3 drive plate bolts -arrow- while turning the crankshaft 120° further in the direction of engine rotation.
-- Remove the bolts -1 and 6 through 11- that attach the engine to the transmission.
The automatic transmission 0BK is illustrated.
Bolted connections quantity and installation position for other transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS [For transmission(s) 0CK] .
Ignore item -A-.
Risk of damage due to reversed running direction on a used ribbed belt.
- Before removing ribbed belt, marking running direction with chalk or felt-tip pen for reinstallation later.
-- Turn the tensioner clockwise in direction of -arrow-, remove the ribbed belt from the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor belt pulley and then release the tension on the tensioner.
-- Remove the ribbed belt.
Ignore the :T10060A .
-- Disconnect the connector -1- and free up the wire.
Refrigerant can cause serious personal injury.
- Do not open the A/C system refrigerant circuit.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- on the A/C compressor.
Danger of damaging the refrigerant lines and hoses.
- Do not bend, twist or stretch the refrigerant lines and hoses.
-- Tie up the A/C compressor with the lines still connected.
-- Disconnect the connectors and free up the wires.
- For the Left Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N144-, Right Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N145- (Depending on the transmission)
- For After-Run Coolant Pump -V51-
-- Remove the coolant fan connector -1- from the bracket and disconnect it by sliding the retainer back in direction of -arrow- and pressing the release down.
-- Free up the electrical wiring harness to the coolant fan control module.
-- Remove engine bracket left and right bolt -arrow-.
-- Remove the lock carrier cover. Refer to ATTACHMENTS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and air guide -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the air guide -2- from the lock carrier.
Ignore item -1-.
-- Open the clamp -2- and remove the air guide hose.
-- Remove the air filter housing -1- upward.
The fuel system is under pressure.
Risk of injury from fuel spraying out.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Wear safety gloves.
- Reduce the pressure: Place clean cloths around the connection point and carefully open the connection point.
-- Disconnect the fuel line -2-. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS .
-- Loosen the clamp -1- and disconnect the hose from the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister.
-- Open the clamps -1 and 2- and remove the coolant hoses.
Ignore item -3-.
-- Remove the air guide hose by loosening the hose clamps -arrows-.
-- Disconnect and free up the connector from the Charge Air Pressure Sensor -G31- -1-.
-- Open the clamps -1 and 3- and remove the coolant hoses.
Ignore item -2-.
-- Move the foam wedge -1- to the side.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the tower brace. Refer to SUSPENSION STRUT AND UPPER CONTROL ARM .
-- Release the retainer in direction of -arrow A- and open the cover in direction of -arrow B-.
-- Remove the nuts -3 and 4- and free up the wire.
-- Remove the connector -1- from the bracket and disconnect it.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and then remove Terminal 30 Wire Junction -TV2- from the plenum chamber bulkhead.
Ignore item -2-.
-- Remove the nut -2- on the right longitudinal member and free up the GND wires.
