Auxiliary Heater, Checking (Vehicles With TDI Engine And AUDI A6 Hybrid)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2018 Audi S6, 2018 Audi A6 Quattro, 2018 Audi A6, 2017 Audi S6, and 2017 Audi A6 Quattro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

An auxiliary heater is currently installed on vehicles with a TDI engine and on vehicles with a high-voltage system (Audi A6 Hybrid) and gasoline engine. The version of the auxiliary heater depends on the vehicle equipment.

An Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is installed on vehicles with a TDI engine and without the optional "parking heater" equipment, and on vehicles with a high-voltage system (Audi A6 Hybrid) and a gasoline engine. Via the auxiliary heater heating element -Z35- the air is heated after it exits the heat exchanger in the front A/C unit. Refer to ELECTRICAL AUXILIARY HEATER ACTIVATION, CHECKING .

The activation of the electric auxiliary heater occurs for vehicles with TDI engines via the respective Engine Control Module (ECM). If a prompt arises from the Climatronic Control Module -J255- control head, the respective ECM turns on the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- via the Low Heat Output Relay -J359- and the High Heat Output Relay -J360-. The control modules exchange this information with one another via the Data Bus. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding"  function and to the appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM.

Certain A/C system functions (for example, auxiliary heater activation) can be switched on and off via the MMI (Multi Media Interface) under the "A/C system" function in the "car" / "car systems" menu. The A/C system control can also be influenced via presettings in the MMI (Multi Media Interface) under the "A/C system" function in the "car" / "car systems" menu. Therefore, first check the presetting in the MMI in the case of a problem with these components. Refer to Infotainment/MMI Operating Instructions.

The activation of the electric auxiliary heater (the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-) occurs for vehicles with a gasoline engine (currently only available for vehicles with high voltage systems/hybrid vehicles) from the Climatronic Control Module -J255- control head via the local Data Bus (controlled using the same outlet and also using the Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126-) on the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604-. If there is a complaint with these vehicles, check the Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126- or Fresh Air Blower -V2- and the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604-. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding"  function and to the appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM.

The activation of the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is controlled using the Low Heat Output Relay -J359- and the High Heat Output Relay -J360-, from which the respective engine control module (for example from the Engine Control Module -J623-) or from the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- upon request from the Climatronic Control Module -J255- control head. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding"  function and ELECTRICAL AUXILIARY HEATER ACTIVATION, CHECKING .

The test for the functionality of the activation of the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is described. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function for the A/C system and ELECTRICAL AUXILIARY HEATER ACTIVATION, CHECKING .

The "read measured values" function for the Climatronic Control Module -J255- control head, displays the fact that the request to activate the electrical auxiliary heater is being sent to the engine control module/ to the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604-. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function. For vehicles with a diesel engine, it is displayed in the function "read measured values" for the engine control module that the request was processed or why the activation did not happen in spite of a request. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

Currently installed Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- for vehicles with a specific gasoline engine, is not diagnostic-capable. use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

Currently an Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is also installed on vehicles with a high voltage system (hybrid vehicles) and a gasoline engine. Refer to ELECTRICAL AUXILIARY HEATER ACTIVATION, CHECKING .

The test for the activation of the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- depends on the engine version. For a vehicle with a diesel engine, this can be found in the Guided Fault Finding for the engine installed in this vehicle. For a vehicle with a gasoline engine, this is found in the guided fault finding for the A/C system. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
