DETERMINING MALFUNCTION IF COOLING OUTPUT OF FRONT A/C SYSTEM IS OK BUT REQUIRED VALUES ARE NOT ACHIEVED IN "Basic" VERSION

NOTE:

For the rear cooling output test, the temperature of the air coming out of the rear center console vents is measured with a thermometer.

On vehicles with a high voltage system, there is currently no "Basic" Air Conditioning (A/C) system version available.

Requirement for this test: 

-- Ensure that the air outlet from the rear footwell vents (under the front seats) is not blocked by floor mats or other objects.

-- Select the display group with the measured values for the Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263- in the function "read measured values" for the Climatronic Control Module -J255- using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

-- Repeat the cooling output test. Refer to COOLING OUTPUT, CHECKING .

-- Use a thermometer to measure the temperature of the air from the vents in the left and right rear center console (the measured values correspond to the temperatures previously measured by the Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263-, permissible deviation +9 °C). Refer to VEHICLES WITHOUT A HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM, CHECKING .

NOTE:

Since the cooled air from the A/C unit must flow through the air guide channel under the center console toward the rear, it may take a moment until the air at the rear vent reaches the requested value.

  • The thermometer will not measure temperatures that are less than or more than 9 °C (48.2 °F) higher than the measured value of the Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263-.

  • The cooling output in the rear is OK (end of test).
-- If there is a complaint due to a lack of heating output. Refer to A/C SYSTEM TEMPERATURE DOOR HEAT OUTPUT ACTIVATION, CHECKING .-- If there is a complaint due to different temperatures of the air from the rear vents (check the temperature sensors and the control motors of the A/C system.) using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
  • Are the temperatures on one or all of the measuring positions too high (or too low)?
-- Check the temperature sensor with the incorrect measured value using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.-- Check the activation and the functionality of the adjustment motors on the A/C system using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.-- Check the functionality of the Rear Temperature Selection Potentiometer -G538- using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
