High Pressure Pump, Removing And Installing: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
-- Modify the adapter from the old high pressure pump to the new one when replacing the high pressure pump.
-- To loosen and tighten the nut -arrow- of the adapter, use the :T40248 or :T40292 .
-- Remove the adapter from the high pressure pump -1- as shown in the illustration. Use a puller, such as the Kukko 15-1/17-1/ and 18-1 (commercially available) to do this.
Different adapters may be installed depending on the date of manufacture
The high pressure lines also need to be replaced when replacing the high pressure pump.
-- Guide the high pressure pump into the chain sprocket.
- The chain sprocket double splines -arrow A- need to align with the adapter groove -arrow B- on the high pressure pump shaft.
-- Remove the :T40245 .
-- Install the high pressure lines. Refer to HIGH PRESSURE LINES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the coolant shut-off valve. Refer to COOLANT SHUT-OFF VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the engine oil cooler. Refer to ENGINE OIL COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Letting the high pressure pump run dry will damage it.
- The high pressure pump must be filled with fuel after installing, but before the engine is started for the first time. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM, FILLING/BLEEDING .
