Adjust The Turbine Switch-Over Vacuum Diaphragm: Procedure

NOTE:

Follow all the rules of cleanliness..

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Loosen the clamp -3- and remove the air guide hose.

NOTE:

Ignore items -1 and 2-.

-- Remove the vacuum line to the vacuum diaphragm for the turbine switch-over on the Turbine Switch-Over Valve -N529- -arrow-.

-- Connect the :VAS6213 and :VAS6342 to the removed vacuum diaphragm and to connection "II" on the :VAG1397A , as illustrated.

-- Connect the : VAS6342 .

The lever -1- is horizontal.

-- Set the :VAS6213 slide ring -2- in the "vacuum" position.

-- Switch the :VAG1397A and set the slide switch to position "II".

-- Select 02-Measured Values in Guided Fault Finding 01 Engine Electronics on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Select High Pressure Turbocharger Bypass Valve Turbine Input, Raw Voltage from measured value list.

-- Operate the :VAS6213 until the :VAG1397A shows the following value:

200 mbar (2.9 psi).

-- Read the voltage value on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

Specified value: 4090 to 4190 mV.

-- Check the adjustment, to do this operate the :VAS6213 until the :VAS6213 pressure gauge displays the following values:

700 mbar (10.15 psi).

NOTE:

The :VAG1397A cannot display values over 580 mbar (8.4 psi)

-- Read the voltage value on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

Specified value: 4150 to 4250 mV.

If Specification Is Not Attained

-- Remove the catalytic converter.

-- Reduce the vacuum via the :VAS6342 to approximately 100 mbar (1.4 psi).

NOTE:

The actuator rod -2- must be counterheld when loosening the lock nut -3-.

-- Open the lock nut -3- with the open-end wrench.

-- Unclip the lock washer -1- and remove the actuator rod from the adjusting lever.

-- Turn the upper part of the actuator rod -2- left or right on its own axis to extend or shorten it.

NOTE:

A half a turn of the actuator rod -2- equals a voltage change of 68 mV.

-- Push the actuator rod -2- on the adjusting lever.

-- Repeat the test with the :VAS6213 and the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

NOTE:

The actuator rod -2- must be counterheld when tightening the lock nut -3-.

-- If the specified value is now reached, install the lock washer -1- and tighten the lock nut -3-.

-- Check the adjustment again, to do this operate the :VAS6213 until the :VAS6213 pressure gauge displays the following values:

700 mbar (10.15 psi).

NOTE:

The :VAG1397A cannot display values over 580 mbar (8.4 psi).

-- Read the voltage value on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

Specified value: 4150 to 4250 mV.

If Specified Value Is Obtained

-- Install the catalytic converter.
