Testing and Adjusting Conditions

Vehicles with Steel Suspension:

Vehicle load on driver seat in otherwise unloaded vehicle (curb weight).

The curb weight is the weight of the operational vehicle with a completely full fuel tank, including the weight of all equipment carried while in operation.

If the fuel tank is not at least 90% full, the load must be created as follows.

NOTE:

Use containers filled with water as additional weight (a five liter (1 pound) container filled with water weighs approximately 5 kg (11 lbs)).

-- Check the fuel tank fill level on the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster and compare it with the following table. Place additional weight in the luggage compartment, if necessary.

Fuel Gauge Additional Weight
55 Liter (14.5 gallons) Fuel Tank 65 Liter (17.1 Gallons) Fuel Tank 75 liter (18.1 Gallons) Fuel Tank
1/4 42 kg (93 lbs) 49 kg (108 lbs) 57 kg (126 lbs)
1/2 28 kg (62 lbs) 33 kg (73 lbs) 38 kg (84 lbs)
3/4 14 kg (31 lbs) 16 kg (35 lbs) 19 kg (42 lbs)
full 0 0 0
Example: if the fuel tank is half full, an additional 38 kg (84 lbs) for example must be placed in the luggage compartment.

Vehicles with Air Suspension:

Continuation for All Vehicles:

The percentage value is based on a 10 meter projection distance. An angle dimension of 1.0%, for example, converts to 10 cm.

To determine the bend point -2- more easily, cover and uncover the left half of the headlamp (seen in direction of travel) several times. Then check the low beam again.

After adjusting the low beam according to the instructions, the center of the high beam light beam must be on the central marking -3-.

-- Pry off cap (if applicable) off the adjusting bolt for adjusting the height.

-- To adjust the height of the headlamp, set the cut-off line above the dividing line with the adjusting bolt -2-.
