Inner Heat EXCHANGER, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to appropriate service information .
-- Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to BULKHEAD .
On vehicles where the coolant hose is guided through the plenum chamber bulkhead, only the plenum chamber bulkhead is loosened.
-- Release the retainers -arrow A- and remove the wire feed-through -1- upward -arrow B-.
-- Remove the refrigerant lines from the inner heat exchanger. Refer to REFRIGERANT LINES WITH INNER HEAT EXCHANGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
On vehicles with a high voltage system (hybrid vehicles):
- Remove the refrigerant line from the shut-off valve 1. Refer to Hybrid Battery Refrigerant Shut-Off Valve 1 -N516- REFRIGERANT LINE, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING, VEHICLES WITH HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM .
- Remove the front refrigerant line to the battery cooling module. Refer to REFRIGERANT LINES TO FRONT OF VEHICLE REAR END ON UNDERBODY (VEHICLE FLOOR), REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM .
-- Free up the inner heat exchanger -1- at the bracket by releasing the clip -5- -arrow- and opening.
-- Remove the bolts -3 and 4-.
-- Disconnect the refrigerant line -2- with the inner heat exchanger from the expansion valve.
-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set:VAS6122 .
-- Remove the refrigerant line -1- with the inner heat exchanger toward the front as shown in the illustration.
-- In vehicles with the coolant hose through the plenum chamber bulkhead, press the plenum chamber bulkhead -2- toward the engine.
-- Guide the refrigerant line with the inner heat exchanger out under the brake booster -3- by rotating it.
