Gear Oil, Draining And Filling, Front Final Drive, Transmission With Separated Oil System: Notes

- Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit :VAS6617
- :VAS6617/2
- :VAS6617/6
- Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit :SMN372500
- Protective eyewear
Draining
- The engine is off.
- Move the vehicle onto a 4-column shop hoist or over a work pit so it is completely level.
- Transmission in "P".
- The parking brake button should be activated to close the electro-mechanical parking brake.
Refer to GENERAL REPAIR INFORMATION .
Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
Follow the disposal requirements.
Replace the ATF drain plug and seal.
Replace the plug for the ATF check and fill hole.
-- Remove the rear noise insulation -2-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the right heat shield -1-.
-- Audi RS6: Remove the bolts -1, 2- and then press the coolant pipe on the right to the side.
-- Place the :SMN372500 under the transmission.
Danger of eye injury.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- Remove the drain plug -arrow B- from the front final drive and drain the transmission fluid.
Danger of causing damage to the transmission.
- Do not start the engine if there is no transmission oil in the front final drive.
-- Install the new drain plug -arrow B-.
Filling and Adjusting
- Gear oil temperature: approximately 20 °C (68 °F) (room temperature).
-- Place the :SMN372500 under the transmission.
Danger of eye injury.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- Remove the drain plug -arrow A- from the front final drive.
-- Install the :VAS6617/6 with the :VAS6617/2 in the inspection and fill hole in the front final drive.
-- Connect the : VAS6617 and fill the front final drive with approximately 1.0 liter (1.05 quarts) of gear oil.
- Transmission fluid. Refer to the parts information.
-- Wait five minutes.
A waiting time of at least 5 minutes is required so that the internal oil level between the differential and oil fill space can equalize.
-- Remove the :VAS6617/6 from the transmission and let any extra oil drain out.
-- Tighten the new drain plug -arrow A- for the front final drive.
It is not necessary to check the oil level again at this stage.
-- Audi RS6: Install the right coolant pipe on the transmission. Refer to or COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For engine(s) CTGE, CEUC] or COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For engine(s) CPNB] or COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For engine(s) CREC, CREH] or .
