Right Catalytic Converter, Removing And Installing: Removing

NOTE:

During installation, all cable ties must be installed at the same location.

-- Remove the right front muffler. Refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the subframe crossbrace. Refer to SUBFRAME CROSSBRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

CAUTION:

The Suspension Components Could Be Damaged.

Do not rest the vehicle on its wheels if the subframe mount, the steering gear or the subframe crossbrace are not installed correctly.

-- Remove the Throttle Valve Control Module -J338-. Refer to THROTTLE VALVE CONTROL MODULE -J338-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the right coolant pipe from the transmission. Refer to RIGHT COOLANT PIPE ON TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Oxygen Sensor after Three Way Catalytic Converter -G130-. Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR -G39- /OXYGEN SENSOR AFTER THREE WAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER -G130-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the connectors -1 to 5- from the bracket and move to the side.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the bracket -1-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and the bolt -1- and move the right catalytic converter to the rear.

-- Remove the bolts and the bracket -1- for the exhaust system.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the vacuum line -3- from the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) combination valve.

-- Remove the AIR hose -2- by pressing both the release buttons.

-- Remove the bolts -4-, remove the right AIR combination valve and move it to the side.

NOTE:

Ignore item -1-.

-- Loosen the attachments -arrows- and remove the right upper heat shield -1- for the tunnel.

-- Mount the :T10337 on the engine and gearbox jack and attach it to the bottom of the transmission.

-- Lift the transmission slightly with the engine and gearbox jack.

WARNING:

There Is The Risk Of An Accident.

The engine and gearbox jack may only be used during assembly and must not be left unsupervised under the vehicle.

-- Remove the bolts from the tunnel crossmember -arrows-.

-- Lower the tunnel crossmember to dimension -a- using the :VAS6931 .

Dimension -a- = maximum 60 mm.

-- Secure the transmission with the :VW785/1B as shown in the illustration.

-- Remove the right catalytic converter from the top.
