Selector Lever Cable, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Press the button on the electro-mechanical parking brake to activate it.

-- Move the selector lever into "D/S".

-- Carefully pry out the selector lever boot on the side using the :3409  in the direction of -arrows- and fold it upward.

-- Insert the :T40031  through the opening -arrow- in the selector mechanism and loosen the bolt on the selector lever cable approximately one turn.

-- Vehicles with 3.0L TFSI engine: Remove the left front muffler. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CYNB] or or EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CTGE, CEUC] or EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CREC, CREH] .

-- Vehicles with a 3.0L TDI Biturbo engine: Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CYNB] or or EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CTGE, CEUC] or EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CREC, CREH] .

-- If equipped, remove the bolts -arrows-, then remove the heat shield.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the driveshaft heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the ball socket -1- on the selector lever cable from the selector shaft lever using the :80-200  .

-- Press the securing clips -2- off and remove the selector lever cable from the transmission.

-- Remove the four lock washers -1-.

-- Remove the noise insulation -2- and slide it forward.

-- Remove the selector lever cable clip -1- sideways.
