WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Ford Expedition. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- AC1 CHECK THE PCM TRANSMISSION RANGE PID
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the PCM PIDs.
- Monitor the PCM Transmission Range (TR) PID while placing vehicle in all gears.
Does the PID indicate REVERSE when REVERSE was not selected?
Yes REFER to Automatic Transmission External Controls to diagnose the transmission range input. No GO to AC2 - AC2 CHECK THE BCM OUTPUT
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280D .
- Ignition ON.
Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate?
Yes GO to AC3 No GO to AC5 - AC3 CHECK THE TRAILER TOW REVERSING LAMPS RELAY
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Trailer Tow Reversing Lamps Relay.
- Ignition ON.
Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate?
Yes GO to AC4 No INSTALL a new trailer tow reversing lamps relay. - AC4 CHECK THE AUTO-DIMMING INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Auto-Dimming Interior Rear View Mirror C911 .
- Ignition ON.
Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate?
Yes REPAIR the BCM reversing lamps output circuit for a short to voltage. No INSTALL a new auto-dimming interior rear view mirror. REFER to Rear View Mirrors . - AC5 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, Refer to BCM Hardware Testing .. No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
