Pinpoint Test Ai : The Doors Do Not Lock/Unlock Using The Keyless Entry Keypad

- AI1 CHECK POWER LOCK OPERATION FROM THE DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH
- Press the lock and unlock button on the door lock control switch.
Do the doors lock and unlock?
Yes GO to AI2. No GO to Pinpoint Test AD . - AI2 CHECK FOR RFA MODULE DTC B121B:11
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the RFA module self-test.
Is DTC B121B:11 present?
Yes GO to AI3. No GO to AI5. - AI3 ISOLATE THE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Keyless Entry Keypad C500 .
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the RFA module DTCs.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the RFA module self-test.
Is DTC B121B:11 still present?
Yes GO to AI4. No INSTALL a new keyless entry keypad. REFER to Keyless Entry Keypad . - AI4 CHECK THE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD INPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RFA Module C4392B .
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to AI10. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - AI5 CHECK THE BCM KEYPAD CODE
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the factory keyless entry code.
- Enter the 5-digit factory set entry code on the keyless entry keypad, then press the 3/4 button.
- Simultaneously press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons for 3 seconds.
Do the doors unlock when the factory code is entered and lock when the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons are pressed?
Yes The system is operating as designed. INFORM the customer of the correct system operation. No GO to AI6. - AI6 CHECK THE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD PIDs
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the RFA module PIDs.
- Press each keyless entry keypad button while observing the following BCM PIDs :
- Key Pad 1_2 Switch Status (Keypd_SW_1_2)
- Key Pad 3_4 Switch Status (Keypd_SW_3/4)
- Key Pad 5_6 Switch Status (Keypd_SW_5/6)
- Key Pad 7_8 Switch Status (Keypd_SW_7/8)
- Key Pad 9_0 Switch Status (Keypd_SW_9/0)
Do all of the PIDs indicate the buttons operate correctly?
Yes GO to AI11. No GO to AI7. - AI7 CHECK THE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Keyless Entry Keypad C500 .
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C500-5 Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to AI8. No REPAIR the circuit. - AI8 BYPASS THE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the RFA module PIDs.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, monitor the following RFA module PIDs :
- Key Pad 1_2 Switch Status (Keypd_SW_1_2)
- Key Pad 7_8 Switch Status (Keypd_SW_7/8)
- Key Pad 9_0 Switch Status (Keypd_SW_9/0)
- Remove the fused jumper wire.
- Remove the fused jumper wire.
- Remove the fused jumper wire.
Do the PIDs indicate correctly when the jumper wire is connected?
Yes INSTALL a new keyless entry keypad. REFER to Keyless Entry Keypad . No GO to AI9. - AI9 CHECK THE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD INPUT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RFA Module C4392B .
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4392B-1 C500-1 C4392B-2 C500-3 C4392B-3 C500-6
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to AI10. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - AI10 CHECK THE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD INPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO EACH OTHER
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to AI11. No REPAIR the circuits in question. - AI11 CHECK FOR CORRECT RFA MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all the RFA module connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the RFA module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System(OASIS) for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new RFA module. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
