Water Drain, Cleaning
Warning information for the high voltage system:
Procedures near high voltage components. Refer to PROCEDURES NEAR HIGH VOLTAGE COMPONENTS .
Procedures for which the ignition needs to be switched off. Refer to PROCEDURES FOR WHICH THE IGNITION NEEDS TO BE SWITCHED OFF .
Handling high voltage cables. Refer to HANDLING HIGH VOLTAGE CABLES .
Deposits in the plenum chamber (Leaves, tree needles, etc...) can negatively affect water drain. This can raise the water level (for example, at the car wash or during heavy precipitation) and water can seep into the vehicle interior via the grommets and the fresh air intake shaft.
Cleaning is charged separately.
-- Remove rough contaminates in the plenum chamber and from the water drain grommets -A- and from the water drain -C- with a commercially available flexible gripping tool.
-- Fine deposits can be removed using a thin water hose or a pressure cup spray gun VAG 1538 and a flexible nylon tube VAG 1538/2.
-- Check the grommets -A- for proper functionality: The valves -B- must not be blocked by dirt.
-- Install the plenum chamber cover. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
