Panorama Sunroof, Cleaning And Lubricating
Warning information for the high voltage system:
Procedures for which the ignition needs to be switched on. Refer to PROCEDURES FOR WHICH THE IGNITION NEEDS TO BE SWITCHED ON .
Hold a cloth under the respective places to protect the vehicle interior from getting dirty.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Brush
- Fine-pored sponge
- Shop vacuum i.e. Wet And Dry Vacuum Cleaner
- Adhesive lubricating paste G 060 751 A2
- Spray lubricant G 060 751 A3
- Special Krytox lubricating paste G 052 141 A2
- Cleaning solution D 009 401 04
- Hand Cartridge Gun VAG 1628
- Cleaning and Lubricating Tool VAS 6621
Paint brush (approximately 15 mm wide) (bend approximately 40°).
To process the Krytox paste, use a small. fine-pored sponge, for example cut-up household sponges without face abrasive.
-- Open the sunroof frame entirely.
-- Open the front glass panel completely.
Clean and Lubricate the Guide Rails
-- If necessary, remove sand and fine pollen from the guide rails with a shop vacuum.
-- Insert the Cleaning and Lubricating Tool VAS 6621 in the rear of the guide rail -1- and turn it 90° into the rail profile -2-.
-- Cleaning and Lubricating Tool VAS 6621 Insert into the center of the guide rail opening -direction of arrow 3-, turn 90° -4- and remove the tool -5-.
-- Insert the Cleaning and Lubricating Tool VAS 6621 in the front of the guide rail (near wind deflector) only -1- and turn it 90° into the rail profile -2-.
-- Cleaning and Lubricating Tool VAS 6621 Insert into the center of the guide rail opening -direction of arrow 3-, turn 90° -4- and remove the tool -5-.
-- Perform several times depending on the amount of debris in the opening.
-- Remove the collective grease and remaining dirt from the center of the guide rail with a lint-free cloth.
-- Repeat the process for the opening on the opposite side of the vehicle.
-- Turn the Cleaning and Lubricating Tool VAS 6621 -1- onto the lubricant cartridge G 060 751 A2 -2- thread and insert into the Cartridge Gun VAG 1628 -3-.
-- Insert the Cartridge Gun VAG 1628 using the Cleaning and Lubricating Tool VAS 6621 on the rear end of the guide rail -1- and turn it 90° -2-.
-- Pull the cartridge gun evenly to the front of the guide rail -direction of arrow 3- and use the cartridge gun to apply lubricating paste G 060 751 A2 to the guide rail.
-- Turn the Cartridge Gun VAG 1628 with the Cleaning and Lubricating Tool VAS 6621 90° -4- and remove it -5-.
-- Remove the excess lubricant from the guide rails with a lint-free cloth.
-- Repeat the process for the opening on the opposite side of the vehicle.
Clean and Lubricate Glass Cover Mechanism
-- Drive the front glass cover into the first open stop position (>>Position 1<<).
-- Remove any remaining lubricant and contaminates from the glass cover mechanism with a lint-free cloth.
-- Spray lubricant G 060 751 A3 once vertically from above on the marked -arrows- joints.
-- Remove the excess spray lubricant on the glass cover mechanism with a lint-free cloth.
-- Repeat the process for the opening on the opposite side of the vehicle.
Clean and Lubricate Glass Cover Slotted Guide Rail Guide
- Front glass cover is in the first open stop position (>>Position 1<<).
-- Remove any remaining lubricant and contaminates from the glass cover mechanism and the slotted guide rail guide in the vehicle interior with a lint-free cloth.
-- Press down on the rubber lip -1- by hand on the inside of the glass cover near the opening levers.
-- Spray the designated areas of the opening lever -2- once vertically, so that the spray lubricant G 060 751 A3 can seep through into the underlying roller guide.
-- Remove the excess spray lubricant with a lint-free cloth.
-- Repeat the process for the opening on the opposite side of the vehicle.
Clean and Lubricate the Sliding Cams
- Front glass cover is in the first open stop position (>>Position 1<<).
-- Remove any remaining lubricant and contaminates from the sliding cams on the front glass cover with a lint-free cloths.
-- Use a commercially available paint brush to apply lubricant G 060 751 A2 to the underside of the sliding cams -1-.
-- Remove the excess lubricant with a lint-free cloth.
-- Repeat the process for the opening on the opposite side of the vehicle.
Clean and Lubricate Seals
-- Open front glass cover completely and raise rear glass cover.
-- Remove any remaining lubricant and contaminates from the glass cover seals and roof frame seal -arrows- with cleaning solution and a lint-free cloth.
-- Apply special lubricant G 052 141 A2 >>thinly<< with a fine-pored sponge to the seals on the front and rear glass covers and roof frame seal -arrows-.
After applying the special lubricating paste, make sure that no rough deposits are visible.
-- Then perform a complete motion sequence and check again for excess lubricant on all lubrication places.
