Coolant Level, Checking And Filling

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

WARNING:

Coolant reservoir is under pressure. Open only when the engine is cold.

CAUTION:

Use distilled water for mixing additives.

NOTE:

The vehicle be must level.

The water used in the mixture has greatly affects the effectiveness of the coolant and the corrosion protection. To meet water quality requirements, use only distilled water when mixing with coolant.

Small quantities of coolant can be refilled Use Coolant System Filler Unit VAS 6096 if larger quantities of coolant are needed when filling.

Consult the owner's manual for the Coolant System Filler Unit VAS 6096.

Perform the following:

-- When the engine is cold, check the coolant level via the markings on the container.

-- If the coolant level is too low: Fill using the required mixture ratio, refer to IF THE FREEZE PROTECTION IS INSUFFICIENT: .

NOTE:

If there is a loss of fluid and this is not usage-related: Check for leaks to determine the cause and inform the customer. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM, CHECKING FOR LEAKS for CALB, COOLING SYSTEM, CHECKING FOR LEAKS for CPNB, COOLING SYSTEM, CHECKING FOR LEAKS for CTUC and CTUD, or COOLING SYSTEM, CHECKING FOR LEAKS for CAEB, CPMA, CPMB and CHJA .
