Brake System, Visual Inspection For Leaks And Damage

Procedures for which the ignition needs to be switched off. Refer to PROCEDURES FOR WHICH THE IGNITION NEEDS TO BE SWITCHED OFF .

Correct any malfunctions (repair procedure).

-- Check the following components for leaks and damages:

Brake master cylinder
Clutch slave cylinder (on manual transmissions only)
Brake Booster
ABS hydraulic unit
Brake calipers

-- Check the entire length of brake hoses and cables. While doing this, pay attention to the following:

Check brake hoses for porosity, bubbles and cracks.
Check brake hoses and lines for chafing.
Check brake line connections and mounts for proper seating, leakages and corrosion.

The brake hoses must not touch other vehicle components or be allowed to become twisted when at maximum steering angle.
