Fan Shroud, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the front noise insulation -1-, refer to FRONT NOISE INSULATION .

-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray VAS6208 under engine.

-- Remove the drain plug -1- on the connection and drain the coolant.

NOTE:

Ignore item -2-.

WARNING:

There is a risk of injury if the radiator fan turns on by itself.

  • Disconnect the connectors before working near the fan shroud.

-- Disconnect the coolant fan connector -1- by sliding the retainer back -arrow- and pressing the release down.

-- Free up electrical wiring harness.

-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit SMN372500 under the separating point.

NOTE:

Be sure to follow the cleanliness guidelines whenever working on the automatic transmission 0B6, refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and disconnect the ATF lines from the radiator.

NOTE:

To prevent ATF from leaking, secure all ATF lines to the top of the longitudinal member.

-- Close open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set VAS6122.

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and remove the bumper cover noise insulation toward the rear.

-- To remove the expanding clips -arrows-, push the clamping pin -1- carefully to dimension -x- until it clicks into the expanding clip -arrow A-.

-- Pull out unlocked expanding clip -2- with the clamping pin.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the air duct -1- from the air filter housing intermediate flange -2-.

-- Open the hook in direction of -arrow A- with a screwdriver -1-.

-- Remove the air grille -2- from the bumper cover in direction of -arrow B-.

-- Repeat the procedure on the other side of the vehicle.

-- Open the latches -arrows- and remove the upper air duct -1-.

-- Release the retaining tabs -A arrows- and tilt the left and right air ducts -1- toward the center of the vehicle -arrow B-.

-- Open the clamps -1 and 2- and remove the connection from the radiator.

-- Release the left and right radiator retaining pins and remove by pulling upward -arrows-.

-- Remove the upper radiator forward.

-- Press the fan shroud left and right locking tabs at the same time in direction of -arrow- and remove the fan shroud upward from the radiator.
