Upper Coolant Pipe, Removing And Installing: Removing

NOTE:

When installing, bring all cable ties back to same positions.

-- Drain the coolant, refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the intake manifold upper section, refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and the high pressure line protective plate -1-.

-- Remove the front secondary air hose -arrow- from its bracket and disconnect it; do to so press the release buttons.

WARNING:

There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under very high pressure.

  • Reduce the fuel pressure down to residual pressure before opening high pressure area of the fuel injection system.
  • To reduce the remaining residual pressure, lay a clean cloth around the connection point and carefully loosen the connection point.

-- Reduce the fuel pressure in the high pressure area, refer to FUEL SYSTEM SAFETY PRECAUTIONS - "Before Opening High Pressure Fuel Injection System".

-- Remove the threaded connection -1-.

-- Loosen the union nuts -2 and 3- by counterholding at the connections.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- on the retaining plates and the high pressure line.

-- Remove the high pressure line connections -arrow-.

NOTE:

Lay a cloth below the coolant pipe to catch escaping coolant.

-- Open the clamp -2- and remove the coolant hose form the coolant pipe.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and remove the coolant pipe back out of the cylinder block -arrow-.
