Transmission Output Shaft Seal, Vehicles Without Vibration Damper On The Transmission Output Shaft

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required 

• Pulling Hook T20143
• Oil Seal Installing Tool T40239
• Sealing grease G 052 128 A1

PROCEDURE 

-- Remove the driveshaft. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE or DRIVESHAFT ATTACHED ON TRANSMISSION SIDE .

-- Pry off the dust ring -1-.

-- Shaft seal, transmission output shaft with splines, removing.

-- Clean the running and sealing surface.

-- Coat the outer edge of the shaft seal with transmission fluid.

-- Mount the guide sleeve T40239/1, -1- on the transmission output shaft.

-- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lip half way with sealing grease G 052 128 A1.

-- Install the shaft seal -2- over the guide sleeve -1- and onto the transmission output shaft.

• Installed position: The open side of the seal faces the transmission housing.

-- Install the shaft seal using the T40239, -1- of the T40239 until you hit the stop. Do not bend the seal.

-- Install a new dust ring -1-.

-- Install the driveshaft. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE or DRIVESHAFT ATTACHED ON TRANSMISSION SIDE .

-- Transmission oil level, checking. Refer to MANUAL TRANSMISSION, CHECKING TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL .
