Right Flange Shaft, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the rear noise insulation -2-, refer to Rear Noise Insulation .

-- Remove the right front wheel.

-- Remove the right drive axle cover -1- inside the wheel housing.

NOTE:

Depending on the date of manufacture, an additional drive axle heat shield -B- may be attached.

The shape of the additional heat shield depends on the engine and on the date of manufacture.

Mark the installed position of the additional heat shield -A- before removing it.

-- If equipped, mark the installed position of the heat shield -B- to the heat shield -A-.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 2 and 3- and then remove the right drive axle heat shields.

-- Remove the right drive axle from the transmission flange shaft and move it back.

-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit SMN372500 under the transmission.

-- Install the threaded eye from the Vibration Damper Tool 3419 into the threaded hole in the right flange shaft with 2 M10 nuts -1-.

-- Position the Slide Hammer Set VW771 with the Slide Hammer Set - Pulling Hook VW771/13 on the threaded eye and remove the flange shaft.
