Overview - Center Differential

Danger of causing damage to the transmission.

Do not start or tow the vehicle when the center differential is removed or when the gear oil has been drained.

- 20 Nm + 90° turn

- Removing and installing, refer to CENTER DIFFERENTIAL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
O-Ring
- Replacing
- Coat with transmission fluid
Center Differential
Ball Bearing
- For the center differential
- Removing and installing, refer to CENTER DIFFERENTIAL BALL BEARING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
Circlip
- For the ball bearing on the transmission output shaft with splines
Circlip
- For the transmission output shaft with splines
Ball Bearing
- For the transmission output shaft with splines
- Replacing, refer to TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT BALL BEARING, REPLACING
Balance Weight
- Installed depending on the version
Shaft Seal
- For the transmission output shaft with splines
- Replacing, refer to TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT SEAL, REPLACING, VEHICLES WITH SPLINES AND WITHOUT VIBRATION DAMPER
- Replacing, refer to TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT SEAL, REPLACING, VEHICLES WITH SPLINES AND WITH VIBRATION DAMPER
Transmission Output Shaft With Splines
- Without vibration damper
- Allocate correct components.
- Removing and installing, refer to TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Replace the shaft seal when replacing the transmission output shaft with splines
Dust Ring
- Replace after removing
Transmission Output Shaft With Splines
- With vibration damper
- Allocate correct components.
- Removing and installing, refer to TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Replace the shaft seal when replacing the transmission output shaft with splines

NOTE:

Replace the bolts for the center differential housing.

-- Tighten the bolts in three steps in the sequence shown:

Step	Bolts	Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1.	-1- and -6-	3 Nm
2.	-1 to 6-	10 Nm
3.	-1 to 6-	Tighten an additional 90°
