Turbine Switch-Over Vacuum Diaphragm, Adjusting, Vehicles With Engine Code CGQB

• Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
• Turbocharger Tester Kit VAG1397A

Procedure 

-- Remove the engine cover, refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Loosen the clamp -3- and remove the air guide hose.

-- Remove the vacuum line to the vacuum diaphragm for the turbine switch-over on the Turbine Switch-Over Valve -N529- -arrow-.

-- Connect the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213 and Pressure Control Valve VAS6342 to the removed vacuum diaphragm and to connection "II" on the Turbocharger Tester Kit VAG1397A, as illustrated.

-- Connect the Pressure Control Valve VAS6342.

• The lever -1- is horizontal.

-- Set the Vacuum Pump VAS6213 slide ring -2- in the "vacuum" position.

-- Switch the Turbocharger Tester Kit VAG1397A and set the slide switch to position "II".

-- Select 02-measured values  in Guided Fault Finding 01 engine electronics  on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Select high pressure turbocharger bypass valve turbine input, raw voltage  from measured value list.

-- Operate the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213 until the Turbocharger Tester VAG1397A shows the following value:

• 200 mbar.

-- Read the voltage value on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

• Specified value: 4090 to 4190 mV.

-- Check the adjustment, to do this operate the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213 until the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213 pressure gauge displays the following values:

• 700 mbar.

-- Read the voltage value on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

• Specified value: 4150 to 4250 mV.

If the specification is not attained:

-- Remove the catalytic converter, refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Reduce the vacuum via the Pressure Control Valve VAS6342 to approximately 100 mbar.

-- Open the lock nut -3- with the open-end wrench.

-- Unclip the lock washer -1- and remove the actuator rod from the adjusting lever.

-- Turn the upper part of the actuator rod -2- left or right on its own axis to extend or shorten it.

-- Push the actuator rod -2- on the adjusting lever.

-- Repeat the test with the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213 and the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- If the specified value is now reached, install the lock washer -1- and tighten the lock nut -3-.

-- Check the adjustment again, to do this operate the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213 until the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213 pressure gauge displays the following values:

• 700 mbar.

-- Read the voltage value on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

• Specified value: 4150 to 4250 mV.

If specified value is obtained:

-- Install the catalytic converter, refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
