Shims, Removing And Installing, Brake 1LB And 1LC

Always use new shims.

NOTE:

If the old brake pads are reinstalled, insert the brake pads with the shims attached into the brake caliper.

-- Remove the brake pads with the shims attached -arrows- from the brake caliper by carefully prying the brake pads out of the brake piston.

-- Before installing the brake pads, insert the shims -arrows- into the brake pistons.

-- Pull out the foil on the shims if equipped.

-- Install the brake pads after that.

After completing the brake system assembly, hold the full brake pressure for approximately 20 seconds, so that the shims are completely mounted on the brake pads.
