Exhaust System, Installing Without Tension
Procedure
- Align the exhaust system when cold.
- Tightening specifications, refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER .
Vehicles without clamping sleeve between the front and rear parts of the exhaust system.
-- Loosen the bolts on the front clamping sleeve.
-- Push exhaust system far enough forward -arrow- until pre-load on retaining loops at rear on rear mufflers is -a- = 5 to 9 mm.
-- Tighten the clamping sleeve threaded connections evenly.
Vehicles with a clamping sleeve between the front and rear parts of the exhaust system.
Only for vehicles with clamping sleeves between front and rear muffler parts, the front muffler must be aligned.
-- Loosen the bolts on the front and rear clamping sleeves.
-- Push front section of exhaust system far enough forward -arrow- until pre-load on retaining loops at Y pipe -a- = 5 to 9 mm.
-- Tighten the front clamping sleeve threaded connections evenly.
-- Push rear part of exhaust system far enough forward -arrow- so that the pre-tension at rear retaining loops of rear mufflers is -a- = 5 to 9 mm.
-- Align rear muffler horizontally.
-- Tighten the rear clamping sleeve threaded connections evenly.
Vehicles with Version 1 Standard Tailpipes:
-- Check distance of left and right tail pipes to bumper:
- Dimension -x- left = dimension -x- right.
Vehicles with Version 2 Standard Tailpipes:
-- Check distance of left and right tail pipes to bumper:
- Dimension -a- = 18 mm.
- Dimension -b- left = dimension -b- right.
Vehicles with Double Tail Pipes:
-- Check distance of left and right tail pipes to bumper:
- Dimension -x- left = dimension -x- right.
All Vehicles:
If necessary, correct the distance as follows:
-- Loosen the brace threaded connection -arrow- between the exhaust pipes.
-- Adjust the distance of the rear mufflers to each other.
