Overview - Muffler Assembly, Hybrid Vehicles

Center Muffler
- Original equipment as one unit with rear muffler. For repairs, replace each separately
- Separating point, refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS, SEPARATING .
- Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
Bolt
- Tightening Specification: 23 Nm
Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged.
- Check pretension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
Front Muffler
- With a flex joint
  CAUTION:
  Danger of damaging the decoupling element.
  - Decoupling element must not be bent more than 10°.
  - Do not load decoupling element on cable.
  - Do not damage wire mesh at decoupling element.
- Removing and installing, refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING HYBRID VEHICLES .
- Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
Seal
- Replacing
Front Clamping Sleeve
- Before tightening, align exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Installed position, refer to Figure
- Tighten bolts evenly
Nut
- Tightening Specification: 23 Nm
Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged.
- Check pretension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
Bolt
- Tightening Specification: 23 Nm
Rear Muffler
- Original equipment as one unit with center muffler. For repairs, replace each separately
- Separating point, refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS, SEPARATING .
- Depending on the version, with a vacuum-controlled exhaust flap or Exhaust Door Control Unit -J883-
- The vacuum-controlled exhaust flap cannot be replaced separately.
- Exhaust Door Control Unit -J883-, Removing and Installing, refer to Exhaust Door Control Unit -J883-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
Rear Clamping Sleeve
- Before tightening, align exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Installed position, refer to Figure
- Tighten bolts evenly
Nut
- Tightening Specification: 23 Nm
Bolt
- Tightening Specification: 23 Nm
Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged.
- Check pretension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .

Replace the nuts.

-- Tighten the nuts -3- to 3 Nm.
