Fuel System, Filling/Bleeding

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

CAUTION:
  • If fuel system components between the fuel tank and high pressure fuel pump are removed or replaced, then a fuel first filling must be performed.

To Fill the Fuel System with Fuel, Proceed As Follows:

-- Connect a Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Turn the ignition on.

-- Select "engine electronics" in OBD.

-- Then select "basic setting".

-- Select "checking the transfer fuel pump".

-- Press the "Start" button.

-- The fuel pump starts.

-- The fuel pump must run for approximately two minutes to make sure the fuel system is sufficiently filled with fuel.

NOTE:

Switch the ignition on and off one time in order to repeat the basic setting. the basic setting must be started after that.

-- Start the engine after filling the fuel system.

-- Let the engine run for a few minutes at an average RPM and then shut it off.

-- Check fuel system for leaks.

-- Erase the fault stored in the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Perform a road test where the accelerator pedal is pressed all the way down at least one time. Then check the high pressure area again for leaks.

NOTE:

If there is still air in the fuel system, the engine may switch to emergency mode during the road test. Turn off the engine and erase the DTC memory. Then continue the road test.

-- Check the DTC memory one more time.
