Needle Bearing In Drive Plate, Replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Press Plate VW402
Press Piece - 31.5mm VW418A
Press Piece - 28x100mm VW421
Bearing Installer - Multiple Use 40-103

Procedure

The transmission is removed.

-- Remove the drive plate, refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- To remove and install, place the Bearing Installer - Multiple Use 40-103 under the drive plate.

-- Press out the needle bearing using the Press Piece - 28x100mm VW421 and shop press.

The smaller diameter of the Press Piece - 28x100mm VW421 faces the drive plate.

-- Carefully press the needle bearing in as far as the stop using the Press Piece - 31.5mm VW418A and shop press.

Installed position: the closed side of the needle bearing faces the engine.

-- Install the drive plate, refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
