Selector Lever Cable, Bringing Into Basic Setting

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Procedure

-- Select the following menu entries on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "function/component selection" in Guided Fault Finding  :

-- Select the measured value "gear" on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Compare the following displays:

Conditions: 

If the displays do not match:

-- Adjust the selector lever cable, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .

If the individual displays cannot be reached by adjusting the selector lever cable:

Selector Lever Cable, Bringing Into Basic Setting:

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

-- Remove selector lever cable for selector shaft lever, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

NOTE:

When parking lock is engaged, it must not be possible to turn the front wheels.

-- Push the selector shaft lever -1- on the transmission all the way to the back in direction of -arrow- until the parking lock locks into place.

-- Push the selector lever into "D".

-- Make sure the selector lever inside the vehicle is also in "D".

-- Select "read measured values" on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in Conditions:  "02 - transmission electronics".

-- Select the "Driving mode measured value" on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Compare the following displays:

Conditions: 

-- Carefully press the selector lever cable ball socket -1- in this position onto the selector shaft lever.

NOTE:

Do not bend selector shaft lever when pressing on, otherwise shift mechanism can no longer be adjusted exactly.

Ignore item -2-.

-- Adjust the selector lever cable, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .

-- Check the selector mechanism, refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, CHECKING .
