Transmission Tightening Specifications

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 11 other vehicles, including the 2017 Audi SQ5, 2017 Audi Q5, 2016 Audi SQ5, 2016 Audi Q5, and 2015 Audi SQ5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

NOTE:

The tightening specifications apply only to lightly greased, oiled, phosphated or blackened nuts and bolts.

Additional lubricant such as engine oil or transmission fluid may be used, but do not use graphite lubricant.

Do not use any ungreased parts.

Tightening specification tolerance ± 15%.

NOTE:

Depending on the date of manufacture, an additional driveshaft heat shield -B- may be attached.

The shape of the additional heat shield depends on the engine and on the date of manufacture.

Mark the installed position of the additional heat shield -A- before removing it.

-- Note the marking when installing the heat shield -B-.

-- Tighten the driveshaft heat shield bolts -1, 2 and 3- to 23 Nm.

Alignment sleeves for centering

¹⁾ Attach starter to the transmission. Bolt class 10.9, the steel bolt may be used again unlimited number of times.
²⁾ Aluminum bolts may be used two times. The aluminum bolts -2 through 11- may be reused twice. Therefore, the bolts must be marked with two notches "X" made by a chisel after they have been used the first time -arrow-, (See Fig 4).

⁽¹⁾	To prevent damaging the bolts when marking them, do not clamp them in a vise. Insert the bolt using a 14 mm socket with a 1/2-drive, which is inserted in to the vise, as illustrated. (See Fig 4).

The aluminum bolts -2 through 11- may be reused twice. Therefore, the bolts must be marked with two notches "X" made by a chisel after they have been used the first time -arrow-.
