1. Selector Mechanism Function Test
- The starter may not be activated in the "D", "S" or in "D/S", "R" and "Tiptronic gate" selector lever positions.
- If shifts in selector lever position "N" occur at speeds greater than 5 km/h (3.1 mph), the Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- must not engage and block the selector lever. The selector lever can shift in driving mode.
- If shifts in selector lever position "N" occur at speeds under 2 km/h (1.2 mph) (almost stationary), the Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- will only engage after approximately one second. The selector lever can be moved out of position "N" only when the brake pedal is pressed.
Selector lever in position "P" :
-- Press the button on the electro-mechanical parking brake to activate it.
-- Press the key briefly in the ignition lock to reach the "ignition on" position.
-- Do not press the brake pedal.
- The selector lever is locked and cannot be shifted out of position "P" while locking button on selector lever handle is pressed. The Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- blocks the selector lever.
-- Press the brake pedal and hold it down.
- The Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- unlocks the selector lever. Engaging driving mode is possible. Press the button in the selector lever handle and slowly move the selector lever from "P" and through "R, N, D, S and D/S" While doing this, check that the Transmission Range Display -Y6- inside the instrument cluster matches the actual position of the selector lever.
Vehicles from MY 2013
-- Pull the selector lever toward the rear out of "D/S" and then release it again.
- The selector lever moves automatically back into position "D/S". The Transmission Range Display -Y6- must change from "D" to "S1" in the instrument cluster and then go back to "D" after pulling the lever toward the rear.
All Vehicles
The selector lever is in "N" and the ignition is turned on:
-- Do not press the brake pedal.
- After a short wait time: The selector lever is locked and cannot be shifted out of position "P" even if the locking button on the selector lever handle is pressed. The Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- blocks the selector lever.
-- Press the brake pedal.
- The Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- unlocks the selector lever. Engaging position "D" or "D/S" is possible.
The selector lever is shifted into the "D" or "D/S" position, ignition is turned on:
-- Guide the selector lever into the "tiptronic gate".
- The illuminated "D" or "D/S" (symbols in the Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26-) must turn off and the "+" and "-" symbols must turn on.
- The Transmission Range Display -Y6- inside the instrument cluster must change from "D" to "M1" when the selector lever moves into the "tiptronic gate"
-- Perform "Guided Fault Finding " using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester if the specified values are not reached.
-- Adjust the selector lever cable, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .
-- Locking button on selector lever handle, checking, refer to 4. Check Locking Button in the Selector Lever Handle .
-- Check ignition key removal lock.
