Emergency Release From P

NOTE:

The selector lever will not move out of position "P" if the battery is disconnected or not charged. The vehicle cannot be moved or towed.

By activating the emergency release, the Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-, in currentless condition, will release the lock.

Procedure

-- Remove the front ashtray insert.

-- Pry out the cap inside the ashtray housing with a screwdriver -arrow-.

NOTE:

The shape of the cover caps may differ from those in the illustration.

-- Carefully press the cylinder -arrow- on the Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- with, for example, a screwdriver through the center opening in the ashtray housing, and at the same time, shift the selector lever out of "P" with the button on the selector lever pressed.

NOTE:

This unlocks the locking lever -1- when the selector lever is in "P".

If the cylinder -arrow- on the Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- is covered by insulation or a wire, then move the insulation or the wire to the side.
