Selector Lever Cable, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Press the button on the electro-mechanical parking brake to activate it.

-- Move the selector lever into "D/S".

-- Carefully pry out the selector lever boot on the side -arrows- using the Trim Removal Wedge 3409 or a small screwdriver and then fold it upward.

-- Insert the Socket And Key T40031 through the opening -arrow- in the selector mechanism and loosen the bolt on the selector lever cable approximately one turn.

NOTE:

Only loosen the clamping screw - do not remove it.

The clamping screw is only accessible when the selector lever is in "D/S".

The selector lever must remain in "D/S" when the clamping screw is loose.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the drivehaft heat shield -1- (if equipped).

-- Remove the ball socket -1- on the selector lever cable from the selector shaft lever -4- using the Pry Lever 80-200.

-- Loosen the nuts -2- on the selector lever cable. This makes it possible to remove the selector lever cable from the cable bracket -3-.

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

-- If equipped remove the heat shield -1- under the gearshift mechanism function unit, refer to OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD .

-- Remove the 4 lock washers -1-, if equipped.

NOTE:

Replace the lock washers.

-- If equipped, remove the noise insulation -2-, slide it forward and remove it from the selector lever cable.

-- Remove the circlip -1- from the selector lever cable.

-- Remove the selector lever cable -2- from the selector mechanism.
