Combination Valve, Checking For Function And Leaks
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213
Procedure
- Vacuum lines and connections not leaking.
- Vacuum hoses not blocked.
-- Remove the tower brace, refer to TOWER BRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Right Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve:
-- Free up the fuel hose -1- and the EVAP canister hose -2- on the air duct pipe.
-- Remove the vacuum hose -3- from the air guide pipe connection.
-- Remove the air guide pipe by loosening the hose clamp -4- and opening the clips -arrows-.
Continued for Both Sides:
The illustration shows the left secondary air injection combination valve.
Ignore item -1-.
-- Remove the left and right bolts -3- for the secondary air injection hose.
-- Remove the vacuum line -2- from the secondary air injection combination valve.
-- Connect the Hand Vacuum Pump VAS6213 to the vacuum connection -1- on the secondary air combination valve that will be tested.
-- Connect a suitable assisting hose to the secondary air combination valve -2-.
-- Blow into the secondary air injection hose using light pressure (do not use compressed air).
- The secondary air injection combination valve must be closed and it must not be possible to blow through it.
-- Run the hand vacuum pump to generate a vacuum.
- The secondary air injection combination valve must open and it must be possible to blow through it.
-- If the right Secondary Air Injection (AIR) combination valve does not react as described, replace it.
- Left, refer to SECONDARY AIR INJECTION LEFT COMBINATION VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Right, refer to SECONDARY AIR INJECTION RIGHT COMBINATION VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
Assembling
Assembly is performed in the reverse order of disassembly, noting the following:
-- Install the tower brace, refer to TOWER BRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
