Lower Timing Chain Cover, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the upper coolant pipe, refer to UPPER COOLANT PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- The transmission is removed, refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Engine oil is drained, refer to => 817.
When installing, bring all cable ties back to same positions.
Danger of causing damage to electronic components.
- Observe the steps for disconnecting the battery.
-- Switch the ignition off and remove the ignition key.
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable -arrow-, refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING For CAEB, CPMA, CPMB .
-- Remove the drive plate, refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the left and right timing chain covers, refer to LEFT AND RIGHT TIMING CHAIN COVERS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the oil filter housing, refer to OIL FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the generator, refer to GENERATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH 3.0L TFSI AND 3.2L FSI ENGINE .
Ignore items -1 and 4-.
-- Disconnect the starter connector -3- by sliding the retainer back and pressing the release down.
-- Remove the electrical wire nut -2- and starter.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Loosen and remove the bolts -1 through 10- in a diagonal sequence.
-- Carefully loosen the lower timing chain cover from the bond and remove it.
-- Press the transmission side of the crankshaft shaft seal out of the lower timing chain cover.
