Overview - Direct View (Japan)
The "Direct View" system helps the driver in the "dead angle" zone: from the headlamp to the B-pillar on the passenger side.
In this zone, the driver is not able to see objects or persons smaller than 1 meter.
If the system is switched on using the Exterior Rearview Mirror Camera Button -E697-, then the actual conditions (from the headlamp to the B-pillar) will appear in the display (Front Information Display Control Head -J685-) and the driver can react accordingly.
The camera (Camera in Exterior Rearview Mirror -R223-) and the switch (Exterior Rearview Mirror Camera Button -E697-) are switched on by the Rearview Camera System Control Module -J772-.
