Electric Drive Output And Control Electronics, Removing And Installing: Installing

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 13 other vehicles, including the 2017 Audi SQ5, 2017 Audi Q5, 2016 Audi SQ5, 2016 Audi Q5, and 2015 Audi SQ5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

WARNING:

Always follow the color coding on the high voltage cables. Interchanging the cables can cause short circuits and damage other high voltage components.

WARNING:

Working with high voltage cables:

  • Do not support yourself or any tool on the high voltage cables or components. This could damage the insulation.
  • Do not bend the high voltage cables excessively. This could damage the insulation.
  • The round high voltage connectors are color-coded by an exterior color ring and are mechanically coded by the guide and code tabs. Always pay attention to the coding when connecting the round high voltage connectors to prevent mechanical damage to the high voltage connectors.
NOTE:

Check the contact surfaces on the potential equalization cable before installation.

The contact surfaces must be clean. There must be no rust or grease on them.

Otherwise, clean the contact surfaces using the Contact Surface Cleaning Set VAS6410. Refer to CONTACT SURFACE CLEANING SET VAS6410 .

-- Connect the high voltage cable according to the color coding. Refer to Figure.

-- Tighten all threaded connections to the tightening specifications.

NOTE:

Connecting and securing the high voltage cables is possible only in the specified sequence.

Connect and secure the connector for the high voltage cables in reverse order of removal.

-- Make sure the red warning label is there and not damaged.

-- Energize the high voltage system.

Use only "Guided Fault Finding  " in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester to re-energize the high voltage system.

CAUTION:

Extremely dangerous voltage

Electrocution can cause death or very serious personal injury.

  • Only a qualified Audi high voltage technician can energize the high voltage system.
  • Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester and "Guided Fault Finding  " to make sure the system is energized.
  • The qualified Audi high voltage technician may start the vehicle again.
  • The Audi high voltage technician should place a sign on the vehicle.
NOTE:

Energizing the high voltage system:

Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester

Press the Guided Fault Finding  button.
