Test sequence

Disconnect hose on vacuum diaphragm for exhaust flap at rear muffler.

Connect Hand Vacuum Pump V.A.G 1390 to vacuum diaphragm.

Generate vacuum using hand vacuum pump.

Linkage must move toward front.

Vent the hand vacuum pump.

Linkage must move toward rear.

If linkage does not move:

Check the linkage for ease of movement and check the vacuum diaphragm for leaks.
