Passenger Occupant Detection System, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Move the seat height to the middle position before removing the seat.

-- Remove the front passenger seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER .

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Attach the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture VAS6136. Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .

-- Remove the front backrest. Refer to FRONT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD SEAT/SPORT SEAT/SUPER SPORT SEAT .

CAUTION:

Do not disconnect the connectors on the Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- and the Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706-.

-- Using a narrow screwdriver, carefully press the Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- -item 3- off the bracket -arrow-.

-- Open the passenger occupant detection system pressure hose guide -1- and free up the pressure hose -2-.

-- Release the retaining spring -1- and tilt the Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706- -item 2- out of the mount.

-- Remove the electrical connector -4- from the bracket by pressing the release and removing the electrical connector.

-- Open the retaining tab on the electrical wiring harness guide -5- -arrow- and free up the wiring harness -3-.

-- Remove the bolt -3-.

-- Remove the Front Passenger Seat Position Sensor -G554- -item 2- while guiding the guide tab -arrow- out of the seat pan lower frame -1-.

-- Remove the seat pan cover and padding (seat pan without seat depth adjuster). Refer to SEAT PAN COVER AND PADDING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, SEAT PAN WITHOUT SEAT DEPTH ADJUSTER and fold to the side carefully.

-- Carefully pry out the passenger occupant detection system mat clips -1- and -3- on the front of the seat pan using a Pry Lever80 - 200.

-- Remove the seat pan cover with padding by first guiding the Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- with the wiring harness through the opening in the seat pan. Guide the Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706- through the opening last.

WARNING:

Damage risk.

  • Do not bend the passenger occupant detection system pressure hose and mat.

-- Remove the seat pan cover with padding with the passenger occupant detection mat -2-, the Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- and the Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706-.

-- Separate the cover from the seat pan padding. Refer to BACKREST COVER AND PADDING, SEPARATING, STANDARD SEAT/SPORT SEAT .
