Head Curtain Airbag With Igniter, Removing And Installing, Sedan: Installing
- Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Always follow head curtain airbag installation procedure.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
During assembly, replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
Always clean the threaded bolt holes, for example using a thread tap.
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Clip the side curtain airbag retaining tab clips -1- onto the body.
-- Engage the gas generator -3- on the bolt and tighten the cap nuts -1- and -2- by hand.
-- Tighten the cap nuts -1- and -2-.
A ground cable is also bolted into place with a cap nut on the right side of the vehicle -1-.
-- Connect the connector -4-.
-- Connect the connector -1- on the head curtain airbag igniter -2-.
-- Press in the plug connector -3- in the direction of the -arrow-. This slides the connector into the head curtain airbag as far as the stop and locks it.
Make sure the connectors are installed correctly and are secure.
Make sure the wires do not get caught.
Replace the clips for the head curtain airbag.
If it has been installed at the factory with 1 clip and a double adhesive strip, then install using 2 clips when reinstalling.
-- Secure the side curtain airbag with 2 clips -1- and -2-.
-- Tighten head curtain airbag bolt -3- on the A-pillar.
-- Install the headliner. Refer to HEADLINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, SEDAN .
Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
-- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
If the Airbag Indicator Lamp -K75- indicates a fault, check the DTC memory, erase it and check it again. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
