Rear Seat Backrest, Removing And Installing, Divided Rear Seat Backrest: Removing
-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to SEAT BENCH/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the center rear belt end fitting. Refer to REAR SEAT BELT LATCH, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, RIGHT REAR SEAT BELT LATCH WITH REAR BELT END FITTING IN THE CENTER .
-- Vehicles equipped with backrest heating: disconnect the backrest heating harness connector.
Versions with rear seat belt tensioner igniter:
- Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING .

-- Turn on the ignition.
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to WORKING ON THE AIRBAG SYSTEM .
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Disconnect the connector.
-- Push connector lock -2- to stop -arrow- ; this disconnects electrical connection -1- and -3- and it can be removed.
Continuation for all vehicles:
-- Remove the center bracket cover -5-. Refer to CENTER STORAGE COMPARTMENT COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt -4-.
-- Remove the securing bracket -3- from the center bracket.
-- Release the backrest.
-- Remove the backrest -1- from the center bracket -2-.
-- Remove the rear seat backrest out of the outer bracket toward the center of vehicle.
