Front Backrest, Removing And Installing, Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat: Removing
- Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Remove the front seat:
- Standard seat and Sport seat (manual). Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL .
- Standard and Sport Power Seat, Comfort Seat and Super Sport Seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER .
-- Attach the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair FixtureVAS6136. Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the tunnel-side trim. Refer to TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TUNNEL-SIDE .
-- Remove tunnel side trim panel:
- Standard seat and Sport seat (manual). Refer to SILL SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL STANDARD/SPORT SEATS .
- Standard and Sport Power Seat, Comfort Seat and Super Sport Seat. Refer to SILL-SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER STANDARD SEAT, WITH OR WITHOUT MEMORY FUNCTION .
-- Using the Trim Removal Wedge 3409, unclip the cable holder -1- in the corrugated tube -2- at the bottom side of the seat pan and remove the cable holder.
-- Disconnect all the wiring harness connectors to the backrest and free up the disconnected wiring harnesses.
The wiring harness between the connection point and the side airbag is continuous.
-- Remove the bolts -2-.
-- Tilt the backrest -3- forward onto the lower seat frame -1-.
-- Press the seat pan padding to the side and carefully remove side airbag wiring harness -4- and, if necessary, all additional wiring harnesses (depending on equipment) from the seat pan.
-- Remove backrest.
