Backrest Adjustment Motor, Removing And Installing: Removing

Before handling airbag units (for example, disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

-- Remove the front seat:

Standard and Sport Power Seat, Comfort Seat and Super Sport Seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER .

-- Attach the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair FixtureVAS6136. Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .

-- Remove the tunnel side trim, refer to TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TUNNEL-SIDE and sill side trim SILL SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL STANDARD/SPORT SEATS .

-- Remove backrest panel:

Two section backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TWO PIECE .
One section backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, ONE PIECE .

-- Mark the angle adjustment of the left and right backrest mounting brackets on the seat as follows:

-- Make a permanent mark (line) -arrow B- on the backrest frame -2- right at the front edge -arrow A- of the anchor -1-.

CAUTION:

Do not damage the surface of the anchor when marking it by scratching or denting it.

-- Remove the nut -4- from the shaft -3-.

-- Remove the cover from the backrest. Refer to BACKREST COVER AND PADDING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD/SPORT SEAT .

-- Remove the shaft -3- from the backrest frame -1- in the direction of the -arrow-.

-- Disconnect the connector -6- from the backrest adjustment motor -7-.

-- Remove the bolt -2-.

-- Remove the backrest adjustment motor from the bracket -5-.
