Driveshaft Heat Shield - Tightening Specification

-- Tighten the heat shield bolts -arrows- to 23 Nm.

Alignment sleeves for centering

¹⁾ Bolt strength rating 10.9. There is no limit to the number of times the steel bolt can be used again.
²⁾ Audi A4 through VIN 8K-9A-066499, Audi A5 through VIN. 8T-9A-007999: replace the aluminum bolts.
³⁾ Audi A4 from VIN 8K-9A-066500, Audi A5 from VIN 8T-9A-008000: the aluminum bolts may be used two times. Refer to TRANSMISSION, INSTALLING .

⁽¹⁾	To prevent damaging the bolts when marking them, do not clamp them in a vise. Insert the bolt using a 14 mm socket with a /₂ drive, which is inserted in to the vise, as illustrated.

Audi A4 from VIN 8K-9A-066500, Audi A5 from VIN 8T-9A-008000: the aluminum bolts -2 through 11- may be used two times. Therefore, the bolts must be marked with two notches X made by a chisel after they have be used the first time -arrow-.
